Jonas lived in a perfect world where he rarely got sick and never starved. But when he begins his training with the Giver he receives forbidden knowledge that makes him think otherwise. The Giver and Jonas plan to do something that will change the community forever. This plan will teach the community the importance of feelings and choices.

The theme of The Giver is about how important it is to have the feelings and choices that make us human. I agree with the author, because I know that feelings and choices are very important to every person I know. I remember when my mom made me go to a dinner that I didn’t want to go to. I remember the feeling of not being able to have a choice, and I didn’t like. The thought of not being able to have any choices like Jonas makes me feel terrible.

I really liked the book The Giver. I loved the story line, and all of the little mysteries that Jonas has to figure out. The only thing that ruined it for me was when they told how they released people. If I were to rate this I’d give it a four star rating. I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in the future and of what it might be like.
